Oliva
Nova golf course is one of the most recent golf course designs
by Severiano Ballesteros. Located to the extreme north of
the Costa Blanca, Oliva Nova golf courses layout calls for
a whole variety of shots. Water is a risk element that is
constantly around at Oliva Nova, to attract golf shots hit
slightly off the fairway or to guard any number of greens.
The Oliva Nova greens are difficult to play to, being sharply
contoured and in many cases built on slopes, where the front
part of the green slopes sideways and the rear section runs
away. The Oliva Nova golf course is now beginning to mature
as the recently planted vegetation begins to grow.
Oliva Nova has hosted the Peugeot Oki Spanish National Championships
on four occasions and is continually attracting many prestigious
golfing events. The course record is currently held by Miguel
Angel Jiminez when he completed 18 holes in January 1999 on
his way to securing the Peugeot Oki Spanish National Championship
with 63 strokes (9 under par).
