PGA
Golf de Catalunya, located approximately 40 minutes drive
north-west of Barcelona and close to Spain's Costa Brava,
is the newest course in PGA European Tour Courses' portfolio
and was voted "Best New Course in Europe" by Golf
World in February 2000. Located between the Montseny mountains
and the Pyrennes this tree-lined course played host to the
2000 Peugeot Open de España and received numerous plaudits
from the world's best players.
Designed by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo, in conjunction
with European Golf Design, the course opened at the end of
1998. It is set on undulating land, dense with a variety of
hanging pine and cork trees which line the fairways. The climate
in the Costa Brava is ideal. The mountains of the Pyrenees
provide a stunning backdrop to this 7,300 yard, par 72 course
which will challenge the finest players in the world. PGA
Golf de Catalunya has now become one of the top three courses
in Spain.
